Elevating Urban Health in Southwark and Lambeth - The Urban Health Index
In response to the need for a comprehensive social determinants baseline analysis and the creation of an evidence base for social impact investments, Impera, under the guidance of the Data Partnership Manager, was tasked with building a Social Progress Index (SPI) / Urban Health Index for the London Boroughs of Southwark and Lambeth.
The objectives were:
-
Develop a ward-level Urban Health Index integrating 50+ outcome datasets.
-
Provide training for key staff to enhance data literacy and utilization.

Impera addressed the challenges through a comprehensive approach:
-
Urban Health Index: Launched an updated Urban Health Index, Impact on Urban Health, at the ward level, amalgamating 50+ relevant outcome datasets.
-
Training and coaching: Conducted training sessions for key staff to ensure effective utilization of the index. Provided coaching for the internal data team to enhance their skills and knowledge

The results had an impact for the organization and society. The new Urban Health Index served as a baseline measurement tool across Lambeth and Southwark, offering valuable insights into social determinants.
